Continental Airlines Cycling Classic

A BP MS150 Recommended Ride

Routes
Three routes of 25, 47, and 67 miles featuring beautiful scenery and challenging hills make this perfect training for the BP MS150.  The 25 mile route travels through scenic farms and forests on lightly travelled backcountry roads.  The 47 and 67 mile routes go through part of the Sam Houston National Forest.  The 67 mile route also goes through the historic town of Anderson, where the hills get especially challenging.

Route maps will be available at the start. For those of you that would like to review the routes prior to the ride, we have posted the route maps at the links below where you can export to some GPS devices, even some cell phones, or view in Google Earth:

We want to point out Rest Stops 1 and 2 which are only 3 miles apart. Our recommendation is that 67 milers bypass Rest Stop 1 and go straight to Rest Stop 2. Accordingly, 47 milers should stop at Rest Stop 1 and bypass Rest Stop 2. This will even out the distance between rest stops. There will be bike mechanics at Rest Stops 1, 4, and 6.

Again this year we do have a “Hell’s Gate” at the turn for the 67 mile route. If you are planning to ride the 67 mile route, you will need to be through the turn from FM1486 onto FM2819 by 10:30 AM. This is 19.3 miles into the route. While we regret having to do this, we must respect the time of the over 200 volunteers that will make this ride possible.
